French Fries & A Clogged Sewer Pipe
Sep. 14th, 2008 07:50 amStrange title right? Not after you read this.
A little background: I live with my companion (I feel to old for boyfriend. His name is Kenny) we live in a rural community and as in rural I mean in our town there is a gas station/convince store, post office, and (are you sitting down?) a restaurant. That’s it, if you need anything else it is a 20 mile round trip at least.
So I have been working on trying to get the bathroom painted for the last couple of weeks now, what I thought was going to be a quick, done in a week job has turned into going on to the third week now.
By the way Kenny is a truck driver and is only home basically one day a week, (came home about 9 PM Friday night and left at 7 AM Sunday morning.)
Now for the rest of the story:
Saturday morning he does what he wants to get done out side, then we have breakfast, then the drain. Fifteen minutes later he is back up stairs saying “I need a snake.” After I do a face palm I pick up the phone to call a friend to see if they have one. (you know, borrow before buy) but no such luck so he goes to the hardware store. (notice there is not one where we live.)
He wants me to help him, now I would rather do a million other things than try to unclog a sewer line. But I go down and to help, we worked and worked and didn’t get anywhere.
Now is where the French fries come in, we were taking a break and I told him, “I want some French fries.” That was all I wanted, they sounded really good at that moment. He went to the restaurant and got me some. Now is that love or what.
So we went back to work on the sewer, and after another trip to the hardware store. And drain cleaner that smelled like rotten eggs, that seemed to waffle its way through the whole house. It was so bad that we ended up putting the birds outside. And then more work on it, he ended up calling a plumber here in town. He wont be able to come by till Sunday after
So here I am with only the kitchen sink that wont back up into the basement waiting for this afternoon and hoping that he can fix the problem without having to dig up the back yard.
